Three decades in international higher education
I have held senior international leadership roles at the universities of Nottingham and Reading, including International Director and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement.
Today I work with universities and education organisations in the UK and internationally, and contribute to sector debate through research, writing, media commentary and speaking.
Experience and perspective
Across these roles, I have worked at the intersection of institutional strategy and practical delivery - developing international student recruitment, education agent management, transnational education and global partnerships. This has given me experience of both setting institutional direction and dealing with the practical, cultural and organisational factors that determine whether a strategy succeeds.
How I work
My approach is independent, evidence-led and grounded in the realities of university decision-making. I help organisations clarify their choices, test assumptions and consider risk, capacity and long-term value. I do not bring a standard model: each assignment begins with the institution, its circumstances and the question it needs to answer.
Research, writing and sector contribution
Alongside my consultancy work, I research, write and speak about international higher education, particularly education agents, international student recruitment, transnational education and institutional governance. My publications and commentary connect current research with the practical questions facing universities and education organisations.
